In this current work Babalawo Obanifa
will document one of the leading Ifa chants/prayer available in African
Spirituality that can be use to attract the blessing of the new or energy of
the new first date of the season such as new month. The energy of the New Moon is associated with
introspection, self-analysis and reflection on ourselves. An opportunity for a
fresh start and a New You. Creating rituals around the moon cycles is a
powerful way to connect with our hearts and the universe on a regular basis. It
is usually a time to allow new life, new magic, new ideas, new things into our
existence. Each month the lunar cycles of both the full and new moon give us
equal opportunity to manifest what we want in life. To manifest our intention
we will need to connect to the energy of the season through chants/prayer. This
work will document one of the new moon chants/prayer available in Africa
spirituality. One of the leading prayer for the aforementioned purpose is
derived from Odu Ifa Owonrin Odi/Ownrinsidin. The mere chants of this prayer
when looking into the sky late in the evening on sighting new moon or at the beginning
of the month will bring such person a blessing. The chants goes thus:

Translations:
It is the new moon that appears
Turning its narrow edge
to the universe
It turn it larger side to
heaven
The is was Ifa’s message
for the Osu( new moon)
Who is the offspring of
Ajaniwarun
One who live in heaven and lives on earth
You live in heaven for fifteen
days
While you live on earth
for fifteen days
When ever you are coming
to the earth
You always bring new Ire(blessing)
with to earth
Offspring of Ajaniwarun
The Ire(blessing) that
you bring with you this time
Let me have my own share
out of it
The ire of longevity the
king of wealth
