SUMMARY
OF SOME GENERAL INFORMATIONS FOR THOSE BORN BY
ODU
IFA OGBEYEKU DURING THEIR ITELODU OR IKOSEDAYE
A person for whom this Odù is revealed during Itelodu (Initiation) or Ikosedaye
(a glance at the destination of a newborn baby, normally made on the third day
of birth) is through nature someone who will enjoy the IRE of happiness in his
life. He or she does not need to over-work before all the good things in
life come his or her way. They will succeed where many others have failed. They
will live a fulfilled life. Whenever the client is having any problem in life
that is not to misbehave, misdemeanor, crime or refusal to consider the
warning, he or she should offer sacrifice as in (3) about and or as recommended
by the Babaláwo. If this can be done, the problem will disappear in due course.
For a male person born by this Odù, he will marry a good wife who will bring
good luck and success. She will be however jealous wife. However, for a female
she must marry a person who had been initiated because of her jealousy.
This is because a person who has been initiated will know how to offer
Ifá sacrifice of time and follow Ifa orders on how to cover with a jealous
woman. Something short of this can lead to disaster for the woman.
Ifá
says that the children of Ogbe-Yeku, male or female are Elegbé. They have
celestial peers who control their activities on earth. They must create a space
for Egbe so that from time to time suitable rituals for Egbe can be performed.
The Egbe will maintain wealth, good health, children and long life for them.
They will also live happily in life.
There
is a tendency however for the children of Ogbe-Yeku to meet adversary at home,
work and among their peers. This is due to their success, clear nature and
achievement terms of commercial success, beauty, popularity and so on. With
proper sacrifice, all the bad machinations of their enemies will add up to
zero. Many of their enemies will return to them the cap delivered.
The
children of Ogbe-Yeku, male and female also have qualities of direction. This
is particularly so because of their marked wit and high intelligence quotient.
Your friends and admire will love and worship them for this while their enemies
will give them an inquisitive respect.
They
should nevertheless take care of the means of friends. If possible they should
not join any club, partnership or association and if they should, they should
find out and verify from Ifá before they do so. This will prevent them from
making a bad choice.
They
also must not leave on any day without initially calling for Ifa
consultation. They should not go out at night and should not change situation
without calling for Ifa consultation. All these are for their safety. They
should always take their dreams seriously.
They
should not enter the medical or paramedical field as a profession. Food,
Pathology, Pharmacy, Health technology, Midwifery, Radiology, Medical
laboratory, Gynecology is not and so on is not advisable for them as a
profession. They should also avoid going to pay condolence visit where a person
had just died or seeing fresh corpse except if they were not aware of
this beforehand de facto.
They
should also be decorating their children's waist with Lágídígba beads to
protect them from early mortality.

them to offer each one of them ,two bottles of pure honey as a sacrifice.
They also asked them to offer money as a sacrifice, they fulfilled. After this,
Babalawo prepared appropriate spiritual medicine for both to use. Soon Gbàtólá
and Gbàtówò became very successful. They decided to re-offer the prescribed
sacrifice then. They were told however that it is not the practice to offer
sacrifice twice in the same problem in the same Ifá stanza. All they can do is
give praise to their Babaláwo for their success. The Babaláwo will give praise
on the other hand to Ifá, give praise to Olódùmarè.

He keeps hunting over the forest without killing any prey. He went then for Ifa

gain with ease. The lion was advised to offer sacrifice. What would he offer as
a sacrifice? Two bottles of liquor and money. The liquor was specially prepared
for the lion so he can drink. He started drinking the liquor. Any time the lion
drinks liquor, he urinates round the bush, any prey that entered that circle of
urine would find it impossible to get out of the ring. This is because of the
power of the liquor. The Lion would come and kill the prisoners trapped inside
the circle with ease.

COMMENTRIES
These
stanza talk of failure as an event, when compare it to failure as
individual.failure as an event dont necessarily need to transform to failure as
individual. When Lion at his initial stage did not succed in catching and
killling his prey in an hunting expendition. He nevertheless deter .But he
proceed to consult Ifa to find a lasting Solution, which he eventually acheive
by observance of the sacrifice. This stanza is far more elucidating on
different between failure as a person and failure as an event. We should
not allow failure as an event to transform to failure as a person.
III.

When

The
problem with ÌWÉ was that whenever she delivered a baby, the baby would die
shortly afterwards. This was happening repeatedly. Therefore, she went for the
Ifa consultation. What should she do to put an end to the problem of losing her
children at their early ages? What should she do to have children who would
give her a suitable burial when she joined her ancestors? Those were the
questions that bother her mind.
The
five Babaláwo mentioned above advised him to offer sacrifice of four rats, four
fish, a hen and money. She must offer ritual to Ifa. The ritual elements are a
chicken and money. She complied. She was then advised to put Lágídígba beading
around immediately the waist of her children as a charm of protection after
they were born. She also fulfilled it.
Soon
after, she became pregnant and began giving birth to the children. She assured
however that the accounts were always in the children. "Whoever offers
sacrifice, Èsù Òdàrà protects". Whenever the responsible spirit for the
death of the previous children take the new one, Èsù Òdàrà intervened,
confusing the spirit. He pointed the mind's attention to the accounts and asked
if he knew the implication of killing someone with things like that adorned
with beads. The spirit answered on the negative. Then Èsù Òdàrà told the spirit
that those children have the protection of higher spirits and if that spirit
should move near them, it meant that the spirit was courting disaster to
itself. On hearing this, the spirit withdrew and never returned.
That
was how all the children of ÌWÉ lived to old age. She was so happy and she was
praising her Babaláwo like this:

Orunmila
was the one who had been followed by his enemies. They planned to ambush him
and kill him, if possible. He slept one day and had a dream. In the dream, he
saw that his enemies were planning evil against him because of his good deeds.
For example, if a person were having problems with witches, he would give the
person protection against such persons. Ifá a person was sick, he would cure
it. Ifá a person wanted to go somewhere and the day would not be favorable, he
would warn the client beforehand. All of these did not go down well with their
neighbors who were the brains behind their problems being found by the victims.
They therefore conspired against Òrúnmìlà and planned to eliminate it or at
least, discard it. Òrúnmìlà invited one of his students then "Ogbe-Yeku
gives him, Tí e kó òyèe rè lori" to come and consult Ifá him. They told
him that he would defeat his enemies. He needed to offer sacrifice and perform
rituals however. Sacrifice: three roosters, three black doves and money. This
he pursued to perform rituals to Ifá and Ògún. For Ifá: - eight rats, eight
fish and one guinea-bird. For Ogun: - a rooster, palm wine, roasted yam,
roasted corn, palm oil, liqueur, kola nut, and bitter kola. Òrúnmìlà I fulfill.
The
day that the enemies were planning to stalk Òrúnmìlà, an argument happened in
which later better to handle the situation. The plot degenerated into a big
fight and all the weapons that they planned to use against Òrúnmìlà were used
against others. That was how únunmìlà on their enemies. He started singing and
dancing together with everyone in his house:

For
a person who had come for Ifá consultation if this Odù is revealed, the
person should be warned against doing things that can make his
friends turn against him. However, if he had already been on the line for his

special soap prescribed above. Within a week or two, everything will return to
normal for him.
XIII.
Ogbe-Yeku
says that the person for whom this Odu is revealed must be very careful in the
midst of his friends. If he is a member of an Association, club, or society, he
must desist from attending any function of the association, club or society for
some time. This is because he is a very vocal member of this collection but
other members are envious of his contributions and achievements both within and
outside the association, club or society. Therefore, they were planning bad
against him.
Ifá
also says, that he had a dream recently that gave him a premonition in what
could happen to him in the gathering of friends. He must take sleep seriously.
However, with proper sacrifice, the bad plans of their colleagues will turn
against the conspirators. On this, Ifá says:

Egbin
is considered the prettiest and most elegant among the antelope family. He was
a member of the animal society and he was very vocal during any of his
deliberations. Besides this, he was also very successful in his commercial
tasks. He attended meetings with the best of his clothes. This action made the
turtle, monkey, deer, leopard and so on became jealous of Egbin. They considered
him proud and intoned. They began to be against him that he planned to move the
Lion as King. All of them began to trace against him. They were nevertheless
aware of the fact he was very influential. For that reason, they reasoned that
it would be unwise to physically attack him. Therefore, they planned to put a
bad charm that will destroy his skin and make him ugly in his chair so that if
he would sit in the chair, he would become a leper. They would use that excuse
then to expel it from society. These evil conspirators decided to go and meet
the Pangolin who was a botanist popular for bad charms then. He prepared the
charm for them and they used it to rub the chair specifically reserved for
Egbin.
The
night before the day of the society meeting however, Egbin had a bad dream. In
the dream, he was hunted away in hand and leg chains through other animals.
When he woke up, the dream disturbed him greatly. Therefore, he went to his
Babaláwo known as Gbérí. He went early in the morning in search of the Ifa
consultation. Ogbe-Yeku was revealed. The Gbérí gan told Egbin that he had
somewhere that he was planning to go. He said that Egbin should not go and
should not attend any group function for approximately six months. He also
advised Egbin to offer sacrifice of three roosters and money. He must also
perform a ritual to Èsù Òdàrà with a rooster, two palm-oil bottles, four
kolanuts with three valves (Ventalla) each and money. He complied. Later in the
day, all the other animals were present at the meeting, all waiting for Egbin
to come. The special chair prepared for Egbin was put in an eminent place for
him to sit forward. He was all waiting for Egbin but he did not come back. When
it was getting late, the conspirators stirred. They then sent the turtle
to Egbin's house to persuade the latter to attend the meeting. The tortoise
went to Egbin's house and asked him to attend the meeting.
Egbin
pretended to be sick and told the tortoise that his illness would not allow him
to attend. The tortoise then told Egbin that he should attend that because
Egbin was being honored especially by other animals and Egbin should not miss
this opportunity. But unfortunately for the turtle, Egbin refused to attend,
considering the warning of Babaláwo.
Meanwhile,
other animals that had been waiting for the turtle began to have second
thoughts. Èsù Òdàrà entered their minds and they began to suspect the turtle
before he returned.
Some
of them said it was probably that the turtle must have gone to Egbin's house to
warn him against attending the meeting. They also believed that the turtle must
have received Egbin's satisfaction. The other animals were resolved to deal
with if ever with the turtle so that he returned without Egbin.
When
the turtle returned without Egbin, an argument happened. The argument was later
degenerated into a wrestling match for everyone. In the process, the nose of
the tortoise step on the matter and bad charm the put there for Egbin fall on
the body of tortoise and pangoling.

The
lawn mower was planning to go and prepare his residence in the meadow. They
advised against doing so. They also asked him to offer sacrifice of three
canes, three bundles of dried lawns, three roosters and money. He was also
advised to offer a rooster and a bottle of palm oil to Èsù as a ritual. She
refused to comply and abused the Babaláwo, calling him a thief. She went to the
meadow with all her children. They made their house there. When the dry season
approached however, all the lawns became dry. People who live around the
neighborhood set the lawns on fire in search of hunting. The grass cutter and
all his children scattered everywhere and the hunters killed them all with
sticks. That was how the lawn mower and all its children lost lives due to
stubborn Of lawnmowers.

Those
who are advised to offer sacrifice, allow them to do so.
Ifa
says that the person for whom this odu is reveal, must offer the
prescribed sacrifice and also consider the warning so that he does not blame
himself.
XVI.
Ifa
says that person for whom this Odu is revealed should not go to where a person
had just died, that he or she should avoid paying condolence visit. He should
not attend the ceremony of a person who had recently died. He can attend the
final burial ceremony of someone who had died during the month whose funeral
was postponed however. What is important is that the person should not see
fresh corpse.
Ifá
also says that when someone is sick, he should not apply medicine in such a
person. The chances of the person will die ill are high if he applies the
medication and People will all conclude that he is the person responsible
for the death of the sick person. the fact that he should not see Fresh corpse
and that he should not apply medication to sick people had made it impossible
for anyone born by Ogbe-yeku to enter the medical profession as Doctor,
Feeding, Pharmacy, Midwifery, radiology, pathology, etc., or even work in any
hospital. In this Ogbe-Yeku says:

They
also asked him to offer the sacrifice to avoid getting involved.
One
leg of Ogbe had a friend who was very sick. He (Ogbe) was a medical botanist by
training. He was invited then by the relations of his sick friend. He went for
Ifa consultation before proceeding. His Babaláwo advised him not to go. He was
also advised to offer a cock and money sacrifice to avoid getting implicated.
He offered the sacrifice and stay at home.
The
relations of the sick friend sent another message to Ogbe. This time he
considered the call he applied medication on his friend and the friend died.
He
was also called by some other people to assist their sick relationships and
they all died. They all started to think that it was Ogbe who kills sick
people. They all went home early one day dragged him before the Oba.
He
tried to explain that he did not have a hand in the death of sick people but
nobody was ready to listen. The Oba then told him that all available evidence
pointed to the fact that Ogbe was the one who killed his patients. Ogbe was
banished from the community and was never asked to practice again as a medical
botanist.
Ifá
says that the person for whom this Odu is reveal should not only offer the
prescribed ritual but should also ensure he considers the warning so that he is
not involved in a case he knew nothing about. Certainly, the alcohols are
against their functioning in the paramedical field doctor. The Person must
consider this warning, especially those born by this Odu and those who
this Odù is revealed to during the Ìtelódù (initiation) ceremony. If he is
Babaláwo, he should not practice herbal medicine at all. He must contend with
other aspects of Ifa.

It

carry out the sacrifice as prescribe by Ifa.
