IFA TEACHES ON PERSEVERANCE AS A KEY TO SUCCESS BY BABALAWO OBANIFA

Genius is a gift of God and it is also a product of pains

In this work Babalawo  Obanifa shall critically examine the concept of perseverance as a key to success as teach by Ifa holy scripture.  One of the natural law of success is the ability of human being to persevere. As we shall see later in  this work, Odu Ifa Ejiogbe  make it clear that human being can only achieve success through perseverance. The Odu ifa Ejiogbe make it clear that any individual who can cultivate and maintain the ability to persevere will have good story to tell at the end. But what do we mean by perseverance. Like many other English words, the word perseverance are  derives from  the Latin words Per meaning Through and Severus meaning Severe -that is, through the severe and difficult. The dictionary meaning of perseverance is "Persisting in or remaining constant to a purpose, idea or task in spite of obstacles." Susan K. has rightly define perseverance  by given an apt description of what perseverance should be thus: ‘The ability to keep on keeping on, even when our efforts are met with disappointment or failure, is an ability that can make all the difference in the world.  And that’s the definition of perseverance: to keep on keeping on.

It comes from being committed to your goal, and from believing in yourself and in your goal’s possibility.  It borrows strength from resilience and optimism and brushes elbows with courage along the way.’ So from the this definition it can be deduce that the ability of man to exercise due patience in the face of adversity and remain persistent until success is achieve is known as perseverance. Adversity some time is one of the unavoidable element that come the way of human being before success is attained. As the saying goes that as fire is the test of gold and adversity is also the test of man. So perseverance is believe to the act of consistent and persistent  commitment and dedication of our time , effort, resources, mind, knowledge , power, etc. to a course or goal irrespective of problems , difficulties , or delay, we me face or encounter before success is achieve. So when you discipline yourself and mind to cultivate the habit of focusing on achieving your  goal without  given consideration to failure or obstacle that will come your path before success is achieve , then you have cultivate habit of perseverance. See what Odu Ifa Ejiogbe have to say on perseverance:

In this Odu above Ifa  make it clear that success can be achieve through the act of perseverance, that some time thing may start to occur gradually in life. But through patience and perseverance it will all end well and we will have good story to tell.

HOW TO CULTIVATE HABIT OF PERSEVERANCE

1. Firstly, you must establish what it is you truly desire. What goal do you really want to achieve.

2. Have a clear step-by-step plan of how you're going to achieve your goal. Your plan is your roadmap to your desired destination. Simply without one you'll get lost.

3. Before you start your pursuit of a goal, make a commitment to yourself that you will work toward it for a specific period of time and won't give up before that time arrives. Make this period as long or as short as you want but the important thing is not to quit before the allotted time.

When the deadline arrives, you can then decide whether to continue with the strategy you're currently following or make some changes to it.

Revising your strategies is fine but quitting is fatal. Quitting will only strengthen and accentuate your inability to persevere and see things through.

4. Identify potential obstacles you could face along the way. This will not only prepare you mentally for when you do come across them, but it will also help you in the process of devising alternative strategies and contingency plans.

5. Seek out help and moral support from family, friends or mentors. They will help keep you focused and motivated on following through until you achieve your goal.

6. Self-control is a must when developing perseverance in daily life. Exercising self-control ensures you remain focused on the task or tasks in hand, and not get side-tracked and distracted.

7. Establish consistent daily habits. Take small steps of progress consistently everyday will mean that your efforts will compound and success will be inevitable.

The importance of perseverance in life cannot be stressed enough. To achieve any notable goal or success then you must have the stamina to stay the distance.

If perseverance is something you lack then by following the tips above and applying a minimal amount of effort you will soon realize that nothing is beyond your reach.
